Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ community at-large:
- Noise Notice: Rifle fire may be heard from С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ May 13 through May 15 as it prepares for and conducts graduation week activities.
- Graduation Schedule: Information is available at vmi.edu/graduation for upcoming events celebrating the achievements of the С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ Class of 2025. Families and friends are encouraged to note arrival times, locations, and policies for events before heading to post.
- Registration for Summer Session I is closing soon, May 15. All registrations and fees are due by noon.
- Did you know? The С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ Summer Transition Program (STP) is designed to enhance the academic and physical fitness of incoming cadets before they officially matriculate in August. If you’ve committed to joining С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ, this program is for you! Appointed students who have completed both their Reservation & Medical Requirements should check their emails for a registration link.
- Matriculation 2025: С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ has updated information for matriculants headed to Lexington this August to start their leadership journeys. Appointed students and their families are encouraged to review the information available at vmi.edu/matriculation as well as communications sent via email to ensure a smooth first day on post.

Updates to the tour will be ongoing as С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ continues to expand and improve facilities. Additional highlights of academic spaces and a look into barracks, the Aquatic Center, and Cameron Hall are planned for launch 2025-2026.

Dr. Sherif Abdelhamid, assistant professor in the and outreach liaison officer for the at С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ, participated in “Build & Fly with С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ,” a free drone event for students ages 13-18 held April 19 at the New College Institute (NCI) in Martinsville, Virginia.
VMI Professor Mentors SVJC Youth
Maj. Aubrey Whitehead, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, volunteers as a senior mentor two hours each week at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center (SVJC) in Staunton, Virginia.
Cadets to Study in Taiwan
Two С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ cadets, Josiah Farrell ’28 and Anderson Robles-Rodriguez ’28 have been awarded Gilman Scholarships for study abroad this summer. Both will participate in the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program and study Mandarin Chinese at the National Chengchi University in Taipei.
